WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP?
· Contact the AFTF with
complaints related to flipping of specific properties.
· Contact the AFTF with any ideas and initiatives that can combat
fraudulent and unethical property flipping.
· Contact the AFTF to meet with any interested community groups
· Contact the Inspections Department with specific housing code
violations (i.e. broken windows, hole in roof) on flipped properties.
· Strengthen your neighborhood by joining or forming a block club or
neighborhood association.
WHAT ARE THE SIGNS OF A FLIPPED PROPERTY?
· Property has been sold
one or more times within one year, and
· Property owner may be out-or-town, state or country, and
· There is a property manager, not a landlord, overseeing the repairs
and collecting rent, and
· Property maintenance is not being performed, and
· Property is vacant, and
· Property is abandoned, and
· Property has housing code violations.
